A fourteen matra tala played essentially on pakhawaj, in solo performances and to accompany a song form that shares the same name. Sung normally by dhrupad singers, the dhamaar form is also rendered by some khayal singers. In the latter case, tabla is used for accompanying this form. The dhamaar tala is played in slow and medium tempo.Tabla players have also adopted this tala for solo presentation and often incorporate repertoire borrowed from or influenced by pakhawaj.The structure of this tala is as follows:
